Now, getting back to your issue with Media Center... I assume you have already installed ffdshow x64. Let's see its Audio Configuration. Start, Programs, ffdshow, Audio Choose the "other" option (I am not at my Vista x64 PC now but it shoudl be something like "liba52") Maybe you can find something there.

I have never noticed a difference since moving to vista but then again I do not watch TV on my PC only the xbox's I have. So the conclusion must be that the file is being recording exactly the same be it MCE 2005 or Vista but play back on a vista machine is a problem. This would expalin why I have never noticed it.
